S&O’s Exonerated Client Makes Headlines With Graduate School Performance Piece, “The Jumpsuit Project”

MAY 2017

In 2015, Schertler & Onorato successfully litigated a Motion for New Trial and obtained an “actual innocence” finding in the District of Columbia Superior Court on behalf of Sherrill Roland, who served ten months in the District of Columbia Jail before his exoneration.  Mr. Roland then returned to his studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where, as part of his Master’s degree work during the past academic year, he has presented a widely-acclaimed social justice performance piece — “The Jumpsuit Project” — to raise awareness about incarceration and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.  The Jumpsuit Project has taken Mr. Roland to venues and speaking engagements throughout the country and was recently featured in the Huffington Post:
