Former Federal Prosecutor and False Claims Act Litigator Habib Ilahi Rejoins SOM&S as a Partner

Schertler Onorato Mead & Sears is pleased to announce that on March 8, 2022, Habib F. Ilahi rejoined the firm as a partner.

Mr. Ilahi is a former federal prosecutor with the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, Civil Division and also served as Special Counsel to the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.  During his tenure with the Department of Justice, Mr. Ilahi worked extensively on matters involving the False Claims Act (FCA), the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Stark Law.  In private practice following his Department of Justice service, Habib has gained extensive experience advising clients on high-stakes FCA matters involving a variety of regulatory regimes.  Mr. Ilahi’s FCA clients have included pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, hospital systems, national nursing home and long-term care facility chains, large and small government contractors, state and federal grant recipients, and a variety of other types of businesses and individuals in investigations and litigation involving government programs.  Mr. Ilahi also has deep experience in other areas of white-collar criminal representation, including matters involving government contracting and procurement fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and securities and accounting fraud.

Mr. Ilahi is a former President and Board member of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, DC, and is a former Executive Committee and Board member of the South Asian Bar Association of North America.
