Distinguished White-Collar Defense Attorney and Former Federal Prosecutor Mark J. MacDougall Joins SOMS

Schertler Onorato Mead & Sears is very pleased to announce that on January 2, 2024, Mark J.MacDougall joined the firm as a partner. Mr. MacDougall is an extremely accomplished white-collar litigator who was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP for 29 years. Mr.MacDougall also previously served as a federal prosecutor with the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, where he was lead counsel in a series of highly successful bank andfinancial fraud prosecutions. Mr. MacDougall’s practice at the firm will continue to focus on white-collar criminal defense and reputational protection and recovery. His extensive experience in federal and state courts across the country and his well-deserved reputation as an exceptionally talented trial lawyer and legal strategist add further depth to the firm’s strong bench of white-collar criminal defense practitioners.
Mr. MacDougall is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been recognized for his litigation skills in Chambers USA, The National Law Journal, Best Lawyers in America,Washingtonian magazine, and other publications. Mr. MacDougall currently serves as a Director of The Sentencing Project and as a Trustee of Austin Preparatory School in Reading, Massachusetts. He is a former trustee of the Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia and a former director of IMG Worldwide and 24 Hour Fitness.
