May 2015: S&O Prevails in Medical Child Abuse Trial in D.C. Superior Court
In a week-long trial, Pamela Satterfield and Janet Foster successfully defended a medical child abuse case prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office for the District of Columbia. The neglect charges were based on allegations that the parents of an infant child had sought medical care for the child at the emergency room on multiple occasions. After considering the testimony of numerous expert and lay witnesses on complex medical and mental-health issues, the trial court found no neglect. After the trial, the parents were reunited with their child, who had been in foster care for nearly nine months.
