Mark Schamel joined Schertler & Onorato, L.L.P. in 1999 and his primary area of practice is criminal defense. Mr. Schamel represents clients in matters across the United States and throughout the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. Mr. Schamel has tried numerous cases and represented both grand jury and trial witnesses in both Federal and State courts.
Mr. Schamel has represented individuals in a series of high-profile criminal investigations involving campaign finances and financial fraud. Mr. Schamel has represented a variety of government personnel and law enforcement officers throughout the United States in matters relating to a variety of criminal and administrative investigations. Mr. Schamel also has extensive experience defending matters involving violent crimes, narcotics, weapons, as well driving related offenses in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
Frequently, Mr. Schamel’s representation of client interests involves representations in administrative investigations, and debarment and disciplinary
proceedings arising from the same alleged conduct. Mr. Schamel has also represented clients in diverse civil matters and is experienced in all phases of civil litigation, having tried civil cases in both Federal and State courts.

Mr. Schamel is a graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport, cum laude and The Boston University School of Law. Mr. Schamel is a member of The Boston University School of Law Executive Committee, as well as serving as the President of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of The Boston University School of Law Alumni Association. Mr. Schamel is also a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Discipline.
