Lisa Freiman Fishberg

Lisa Fishberg joined Schertler & Onorato in 1997. Ms. Fishberg’s practice focuses on civil litigation and domestic relations, and she has defended clients in a wide range of criminal matters and post-conviction litigation.

Ms. Fishberg has extensive litigation experience, representing clients involved in commercial litigation, contract disputes, government and private employment and EEO matters, civil fraud, civil forfeiture, federal and local tort claims actions, professional licensing issues, professional malpractice, negligence and personal injury cases, and defamation and other intentional torts. Ms. Fishberg’s experience in domestic relations matters includes cases involving questions of custody, child and spousal support, separation, and property distribution. Ms. Fishberg is skilled at negotiating family law settlement agreements, yet is prepared to take to court the difficult family law cases that cannot be resolved through alternative dispute resolution methods. Ms. Fishberg represents victims of domestic violence, and defends those who are wrongly accused. Ms. Fishberg’s appellate experience includes bringing cases before the United States Courts of Appeals, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the Merit Systems Protection Board.

In 2012, Ms. Fishberg was selected as a member of the steering committee of the Family Law Section of the D.C. Bar. Ms. Fishberg’s pro bono commitments include volunteering at the D.C. Family Court Self-Help Center.

Ms. Fishberg received her J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School in 1997, and her B.A., cum laude, from SUNY Albany in 1994. Ms. Fishberg is a Member of the Bars of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and New York. She is admitted to practice in several federal courts including the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, and District of Columbia Circuits; and the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia, District of Maryland, and Southern District of New York.
